With this Mix technique, you could conjure up an array of powerful attacking, curative, and support abilities. This falls in line with how the Chemist class has been utilized in the FF series. And thankfully it returns in Final Fantasy X-2, this time accessed by using the Alchemist Dressphere. In this article I’ll list out the best Alchemist mixes in the game, what they do, and what you need to mix together to get them going in battle.
10. Panacea
Having a quick “get out of jail” card to deal with debilitating status effects is very useful in any RPG. There’s nothing worse than your party missing due to Blind, or unable to cast Cure because of Silence. If you’ve just been hit by a nasty party-wide attack and suffering from various ailments, Panacea instantly restores your whole team back to tip top shape. Better yet, Panacea is incredibly accessible, as it only needs very basic items. Definitely keep this one handy whenever you’re in a pinch – or thinking of taking on the dreaded Malboro. How to mix: Very simple, just mix together a Remedy with any one of the following items: Potion, Hi Potion, Ether, Phoenix Down, Mega Phoenix, Antidote, Soft, Eye Drops, Echo Screen, another Remedy, or any one of the Grenade/Bomb/Elemental Damage items. Any of the Chocobo Greens will do also.
9. Ultra Potion
This nifty little mixture restores 9999 to your whole party – and it’s pretty difficult to snuff at an instant full cure in any situation. Although there aren’t really any instances in Final Fantasy X-2 where your whole party will be in any danger (aside from the late game bosses), having access to a full party heal, especially early game, can make the first couple of bosses even easier than they already are. Once you reach the last couple of bosses in the game, having Ultra Potion up your sleeve is a great way to deal with how frequently you’ll find your HP reduced to single digits. How to mix: Dispel Tonic and then one of the following: Potion, Hi Potion, Ether, Phoenix Down, Mega Phoenix, Antidote, Soft, Eye Drops, Echo Screen, Holy Water, Remedy, or any one of the Grenade/Bomb/Elemental Damage items. Any of the Chocobo Greens will do also.
8. Chocobo Wing
Chocobo Wing already exists as a usable item in FFX-2. These cast Haste on your entire party. The problem is that they’re extremely rare, and as such, not a viable item to allow you the luxury of spamming them in battle all the time. Thankfully it’s an incredibly accessible Alchemist Mix! It only requires very basic items to get your whole party sped up with Haste. Use this mixture to give your party a solid speed advantage in any situation. How to mix: Chocobo Feather and any one of the following: Potion, Hi Potion, Ether, Phoenix Down, Mega Phoenix, Antidote, Soft, Eye Drops, Echo Screen, Holy Water, Remedy, or any one of the Grenade/Bomb/Elemental Damage items. Any of the Chocobo Greens will do also.
7. Grand Slam
Now getting into the offensive category, Grand Slam is one of the most useful ways to deal damage to your opponents. One of these little beauties reduces all enemies’ HP by 75% while also lowering their Defense and Magic Defense. While not all enemies are susceptible to Gravity-based attacks, the ones that are will be left in an absolute mess after getting hit by this mix. How to mix: Twin/Three Stars + any of the Grenade items, Silver/Gold Hourglass, Candle Of Life, Poison Fang, or Farplane Shadow.
6. Sunburst
Instead of dealing Gravity damage like the Grand Slam, this mix just deals a straight 6000 damage to all enemies. This makes it useful against any enemies that resist Gravity damage, or any enemies with a high Defense stat. Unless you’re at a high level or abusing the Cat Nip accessory, then this mix will rank up there with the most damage you can deal with one attack. How to mix: Supreme Gem and then one of the following: Potion, Hi Potion, X-Potion, Mega-potion, Ether, Turbo Ether, Phoenix Down, Mega Phoenix, Elixir, Antidote, Soft, Eye Drops, Echo Screen, Holy Water, Remedy, or any one of the Grenade/Bomb/Elemental Damage items.
5. Final Wall
Back to the support entries with Final Wall. And this mix is about as full support as you can get. Once used, it grants Protect, Shell, Reflect, and Haste to your entire party. Having a way to speed up your whole party, as well as giving full protection to magic spells, is pretty invaluable. And halving all physical damage is just the icing on the cake. Just don’t accidentally try casting Cure on yourself! How to mix: Unfortunately this requires one of the previously mentioned Chocobo Wings, and then any one of the following: any curative or status curing item, any bomb item, any tonic/tablet item or any Elemental Damage item.
4. Final Elixir
Final Elixir is pretty much Ultra Potion and Panacea mixed into one. Using this will fully restore your entire party and remove all negative status effects. This really will turn the tide of the battle against even the meanest of bosses. The only real downside to this mix is that it requires a Megalixir as one of its items, so if you’re one of those Elixir hoarders then this may make you question your moral compass. How to mix: Megalixir, and then pretty much any item other than Phoenix Down or Mega Phoenix. You can even use another Megalixir if you really want to!
3. Fantasy Phoenix
Using this mix will revive all KO’ed party members, and then restore all three members to full HP. This pretty much tells your opponent that just because a few of your team members are dead, the battle is far from over. And just like the previous entry, this mix requires a Megalixir as one of its components – so it isn’t something you can just fire off at will. How to mix: Megalixir, and then either a Phoenix Down or Mega Phoenix.
2. Mega Cocktail
You’ll really laugh in the face of death if you mix up a Mega Cocktail in battle. This will double your whole party’s max HP and MP, and then it also heals everyone based on what their current HP was at the time. What really sets this mix apart from many of the others is how crazily accessible it is, requiring very basic items to achieve. There’s really nothing stopping you from using this in every boss battle you face. How to mix: Mana/Stamina Tonic, and then pretty much any curative or status healing item, Elemental Damage item, or Bomb.
1. Miracle Drink
Taking damage will be a thing of the past once you use this mix. Miracle Drink grants Invincibility to your entire party, making even the toughest super boss hit like a wet noodle. There’s some contention over how long the effect lasts, though. Looking online, some players say it ends after a few turns, while others claim it lasts for the whole battle. Either way, not taking any damage is a good thing. And that’s why Miracle Drink deserves a top spot on this list. How to mix: Dark Matter, and then pretty much any curative or status healing item, Grenade or Bomb, Chocobo Green, Tablet/Tonic, or Elemental Damage item.
