Even the smallest & seemingly most insignificant ones. While text fonts are far from being among the most insignificant feature of a game, they’re definitely low on the priority list for modders. But not for the Skyrim modding community. These mods prove that changing fonts should be a priority if you really want a custom UI. And changing them up can go a very long way to make an old game feel fresh once again.

Skyrim Interface Makeover

Check Out This Mod Changing fonts is great, don’t get me wrong, but the interface also needs to be tweaked to accommodate any changes. We want to avoid making everything look messy. This is exactly what the Skyrim Interface Makeover mod does. With this installed, you’ll be able to use wider fonts without any problem, as it tweaks the layout of several interface elements & text boxes to better accommodate to larger sizes. Additional interface options are also included to make this mod a very good download- even if you have no intention of using other font mods! Multi-purpose mods, that’s what we love around here.

God of War 2018 Font Replacement

Check Out This Mod Come here, boy. Stop sulking, boy. And change the fonts, boy. As Skyrim is clearly inspired by ancient Scandinavia, is anyone surprised that someone ported the great-looking Berzerker font used in the God of War interface? We may not be fighting the Norse Gods here. But we’re still about some very important business that deserves to look amazing at all times!

Celtic Font

Check Out This Mod If Skyrim somehow looks more Celtic than Nordic to you, I have two pieces of advice. First: you may need to do study history more. Second: download the Celtic Font mod. This mod is a very simple add-on that replaces Skyrim’s vanilla font with a new one. Specifically a newer font with a distinct Celtic flavor. And if you want to turn the rest of Skyrim into a Celtic experience, all you need to do is start browsing mod websites for them. Or we might even make another list for that down the line, who knows.

Alternate Book Fonts

Check Out This Mod All role-playing games worthy of their names develop their lore in a lot of different ways. Skyrim masterfully does it with some in-game books that sadly come with a rather annoying issue: The font is horrible. And here’s a mod that’s ready to help. Alternate Book Fonts is handy for all in-game book buffs like myself. It gives us a new font that looks much better than the vanilla one, and is way more comfortable for reading. Now you really have no excuse to not read any of these books.

Sovngarde

Check Out This Mod Did you know that even font mods can be lore-friendly? Talk about a dedicated fanbase. Just imagine my shock when I discovered Sovngarde, a font mod that introduces a custom-made font which looks great on its own, and is a fit for the Nordic atmosphere of Skyrim. This mod also supports multiple languages as well, so you’ll be able to use it even if you’re playing the game in French, German, Italian, and so on.

Main Font Replacement

Check Out This Mod Mods for commoners only include one new font type. Mods for true Skyrim nobility like yourself include six of them! The Main Font Replacement goes a long way to make the game’s main interface look slicker than ever. It allows you to replace the plain looking Futura font with six different fonts, ranging from the fantasy-esque Magic Card to the funky TaraType. And if this selection of fonts is still not enough, you can use the mod’s files to introduce your own favorite font(s) into the game.
