The reasons are many and quite varied. But vampires are a pretty elusive group in real life, so playing as a vampire in Skyrim is a solid alternative. As a vampire (or a vampire acceptance activist), you’ll need a powerful and intriguing companion to join you in nightly hunting. Let’s see what the Skyrim modding community has to offer.
1. Moka Akashiya from Rosario Vampire
Check Out This Mod I used to love Rosario + Vampire back in my teenage years. It taught me how important hot anime girls can be in your life and why people have waifus. One of the leading waifu candidates in Rosario + Vampire is Moka, the “main girl.” What makes her special is her double personality. Usually, she’s a happy-go-lucky airhead, but she becomes a white-haired bombshell with herculean strength when her switch gets flipped. This mod by Jinxxed adds Moka’s white-haired version to Skyrim, with clothes, proportions, and abilities true to the show.
2. Hubert Ferrier – Male Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod In my almost three decades of life, I’ve never met a girl who likes bats – but they all seem to like vampires. Of course, I’m not talking about disfigured monsters like the dude from Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror (1922), but a dreamy, fair-skinned gentleman with a 500-septim hairstyle and a tragic backstory. Hubert Ferrier checks every box. Created by Nt6485, Hubert is a vampire-hunting vampire whose life is dedicated to exacting revenge against the spawn of Molag Bal. Will he keep hunting or give in to his hunger? It’s up to you to decide.
3. Faye – Female Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod Next up, we’ve got an inked adventuring gal who also happens to be a vampire! At first glance, you wouldn’t be able to tell Faye is afflicted by Sanguinare Vampiris. Once she opens her mouth, the fangs should make it obvious – unless you’re distracted by the blinding beauty of her high-poly face. The mod features custom outfits with enhanced physics, which showcase her tattoos. She also has a unique one-handed sword that makes her extremely dangerous in combat.
4. Scarlett – Female Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod While some vampires try to hide their dark allegiance, others make it their calling card. EclipseHeim’s Scarlett doesn’t just look like a vampire – because her outfit is that of a blood-sucking warlord. It has spikes, red leather, demon face decorations, and at least two blood vials. Walking around with this vampiric beauty, I almost feel like I’m the one following her and not the other way around. Like any respectable vampire, she’s skilled in Conjuration, though she likes getting down and dirty with one-handed weapons as well.
5. Vimar – Male Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod Anyone who’s read the Twilight series (and not died from extreme cringe) knows how attractive a youthful noble vampire with a dangerous edge can be. Vimar Ice-blood is just that kind of vampire. His jawline is strong, his gaze profound, and he looks dashing in a suit of royal vampire armor. He’s also skilled with a sword, preferring the dark allure of an Ebony blade. You’ll find Vimar lurking the Hall of the Dead in Riften. From there, he’ll follow wherever you lead – as long as you promise to avoid the sunlight as much as possible.
6. Vampyra – High-Poly Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod Those of you who’re into somber beauties like Morticia Addams from The Addams Family and Elvira, the Mistress of the Dark, need to check out Vampyra by MidNighComm. You’ll meet Vampyra in Whiterun’s Hall of the Dead. And the first thing you’ll notice is the high-poly models on her face and body, as well as her attire. Vampyra can be customized to your liking. You can choose what kind of body she has, her hair and eye color, and even whether she has laugh lines or not! In combat, this sultry vampire can summon all sort of thralls to do her bidding through Conjuration, and she’s a pretty decent healer. She’s also pretty knowledgeable in the Destruction school.
7. The Karlov Brood
Check Out This Mod Being a vampire is much harder than it looks. It’s not just immortality and mind-control powers, but ostracism, isolation, and a constant danger of being attacked under the sunlight. For this very reason, vampires tend to form broods, watching each other’s backs and teaching the younger vampires how to survive. The Karlov Brood by Netbadass gives us insight into one of these vampire communities. It introduces five powerful vampires with dashing looks and custom equipment who’ll take you in as one of their own, or work with you toward a common goal. All of these followers are modeled after the highest-level in-game vampires, like Nightmaster Vampires. While they share spells and power level, their fighting styles are very different.
8. Azel – Male Vampire Follower
Check Out This Mod If you’re into the pretty boy vampire aesthetic, Nt6486’s Azel is a must-have follower. You’ll unearth this attractive male vampire from a coffin in Moldering Ruins. He’s a spellsword who uses his frost magic to slow down his victims before cutting them down. Azel is also highly customizable, with several eyes and hair color variations available for download. You’d be surprised what changing someone’s hair color from black to white can do to their image.
9. Volkhar’s Princess Serana
Check Out This Mod Before adding any new vampire followers to your game, you should look for ways to improve the ones already provided by Skyrim. Of course, I’m talking about Serana. There are countless fantastic mods to update Serana’s outfit, appearance, dialogue, and skillset, making her one of the most versatile followers in the game. Volkhar’s Princess by Serafia gives Serana a youthful makeover, with more delicate features and less focus on the whole “undead” thing. In other words, she’s a vampire Disney Princess. But if you prefer a more gaunt, sinister look, consider Pandorable’s Serana.
10. Bloodthirst – Vampire NPCs Can Feed (LE)
Check Out This Mod Instead of giving the top spot to a specific follower, I’d rather showcase a fantastic add-on that’ll improve all of your vampire followers and other vampire NPCs. In vanilla, only the player can feed on humans when they’re a vampire. With Flexcreator’s Bloodthirst, every vampire NPC can feed on other characters just fine – which makes vampirism more immersive. They’ll automatically pick their victim whenever they feel peckish and find a way to get some alone time with their neck. They may even get caught, forcing you to deal with the situation. Regrettably, this mod is exclusive to Legendary Edition only. But if you’re savvy with the Creation Kit, you can get it working on Special Edition by following these instructions.
